Playtime should be fun but is also an opportunity to learn. Through play, children learn the skills of social interaction; they develop self esteem and confidence. They also improve physically mentally and emotionally, developing learning traits that will assist them as they continue to grow.

Buccaneers offer a modified fencing game that consists of age appropriate and imaginative activities.

Children love to play with swords but they don't want to be commonwealth champions they want to be Pirates and Musketeers. Buccaneers incorporate the child's imagination whilst introducing the simple movements of the game of fencing and encouraging the best traditions of good sportsmanship and fair play.

Friday 4pm until 5pm

Classes are 45 mins to 1 hour long and consist of a variety of stimulating activities that target different learning systems. The children use child sized foam swords as well as a variety of props that are colourful tactile and noisy, designed to create a more stimulating and imaginative environment in which to play. All activities are based on the principal of participation rather than exclusion and parents and carers are encouraged to be involved in the experience.

The coach is referred to as the captain. This helps to create a position of authority in a fun context. The crew always obeys the captain.

Upon arrival each child is given a foam play sword. The equipment used is designed to provide safe and stimulating play without the need for the safety equipment required for conventional fencing.

Props are used during the class such as mats, ropes and hoops to create boundaries and assist with creating imaginative themes for games.
